Roads now fully reopened after attempted murder of man in car park

Police have thanked the public for their patience and said the investigation is ongoing

The scene of the attempted murder on the Rathfriland Road on Friday night has reopened.

A PSNI spokesperson said the Drone Hill Road and Rathfriland Road, including its off-slip and on-slip to the A1 dual carriageway, have now fully reopened.

“We thank you for your patience as enquiries were being made in the area. The investigation continues,” she added.

A man, aged in his 40s, who was shot in his abdomen by a masked man while in the car park on Rathfriland Road around 8pm, was taken to hospital where his condition had been reported as critical, but stable.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy of murder.
