‘Bad Blood’ as Swift tickets become bane of local Facebook community pages

'I will be blocking any posts here with her name on it here as I can't be... well, bothered, to manage all the scammers'

Whether it’s honest Joe trying lessen the blow of being unable to go or opportunistic scammers casting their lines – Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour tickets are popping up for sale on every Facebook group and page imaginable, much to the annoyance of group admins.

A brief scan of social media reveals several posts of the “I’m selling 4 x Eras Tour tickets for Dublin in June as my friends and I can no longer go. Happy to provide proof. Dm me for more information” ilk on two separate Armagh-focused groups.

To little public engagement, it has to be said.

However, one local page admin has had about enough. The admin of Moy Open Forum commented: “If you have bought access to Miss Swift’s gigs anywhere in the UK, please do not post here, sell them on official resale sites or on your own Facebook page.

“I will be blocking any posts here with her name on it here as I can’t be… well, bothered, to manage all the scammers.”

Another person replied: “And not on the Buy and Sell Moy, Benburb, Blackwatertown either. You simply will be blocked… a scourge just.”

Genuine ticket sellers may read this and think ‘You Need to Calm Down’ but annoyance aside, is it really appropriate to flog tickets on unregulated Facebook community groups?

Online ticket scams are incredibly common now, with all too many instances of FOMO-riddled concert-goers sending huge sums of cash to strangers online only to never receive their coveted tickets.

The advice is simple; exercise caution when buying tickets online, preferably buy tickets from reputable sale and resale sources only, be wary of ticket screenshots – even genuine ticket screenshots may not be accepted at the gate – and be extra vigilant when sending money via bank transfer or payment link.
