Woman who stole alcohol from the same store twice in one day to be sentenced next month

Defence said he would 'seek a psychiatric report'

A woman who stole two lots of alcohol from a Banbridge store on the same day will be sentenced next month.

The 47-year-old’s barrister told court that he would be seeking a psychiatric report with regards to the defendant.

Elizabeth Camlin, of Meganlis Park, in Dromore, Co Down, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

It was heard that this referred to two separate incidents on the same date from the same store.

Camlin stole both £16 and £43.39 worth of alcohol from SuperValu, Banbridge, on October 26, last year.

Upon hearing the plea, District Judge Bernie Kelly stated that she would require a presentence report.

Defence barrister Scott McWhinney stated: “I am to have to seek a psychiatric report.”

District Judge Kelly remarked that this would not assist her.

However, Mr McWhinney commented: “After consultation, I feel it may help me.”

The case was put back until August 7 for sentencing.
