Tragic Portadown fire victim ‘was always willing to help others in need’

Church Street Portadown Alesia

An appeal to help pay for the funeral costs of a woman tragically killed in a Portadown house fire has raised close to £5,000.

The 37-year-old died – referred to as Alesia – passed away in her Church Street home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A murder investigation has subsequently been launched and a 25-year-old man arrested.

The GoFundMe page, set up by Karolina Nazarova, described Alesia as “a kind young woman who deeply loved her family, especially her daughter who is now left on her own, without her mother”.

It said Alesia “was always willing to help others in need – we need your help, please”.

The funds will go towards the “funeral costs and to help a young girl with special needs who lost everything, the most loved person in her life, due to this devastating event”.

“The girl has been left with no single parent. Any donation big or small will help tremendously the family during this most difficult time. Our hearts are with Alesia’s family and her daughter who is currently in hospital.”

Meanwhile, Portadown charity organisation, Giving Grace, is also collecting donations, as well as clothing for the 12-year-old child who remains in Craigavon Area Hospital.

The community have rallied behind little Olivia with almost £500 in monetary donations, including hundreds of pounds in vouchers. In the latest update this morning (Thursday), Rushmere Shopping Centre in Newry, offered up a £250 voucher.
