A Portadown woman who assaulted her ex-partner causing them actual bodily harm has been handed a suspended sentence after contesting the charge.
The 44-year-old’s barrister told court the defendant was “remorseful” and that she had moved on with another relationship.
Sigita Juodvalkyte, of Kernan Grove, appeared charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Defence barrister Seamus Lannon stated: “The money this woman gets a month, half of it goes to paying off the mortgage.
“She is deeply remorseful for what happened. She has now moved on and begun a new relationship.”
District Judge Bernie Kelly said: “This is a serious offence. You appeared before this court with no record but by contesting this charge and being convicted you are due no credit.”
Juodvalkyte was sentenced to four months in prison suspended for two years.
A restraining order for a period of three years had been put in place on the day of contest.
