‘Bedlam’ in Bessbrook as Richbrook Development becomes hub for Hollywood film crew

It’s not often that Hollywood’s glitterati descend on the quiet former milling town of Bessbrook but that’s just what has been happening over the last few days as Richbrook Developments was transformed into a busy hub for the cast and crew of a new sci-fi action thriller.

Owner of Richbrook Furnishings, Lorna Weir, gave Armagh I the lowdown: “They came a few weeks ago and asked if we had room in the yard if they were to use it. Then they came back again and I took Michael – who was the organiser – around the yard to see it and he agreed with Mark [Lorna’s son] to use it.

“I’m only sorry I didn’t get a photo of all of the trucks and things that were down in the yard. I think there was probably sixty to seventy cars and catering lorries and different things for the crew.

“The cars that were there were for the extras and I said to Michael ‘you didn’t tell me there were famous actors!’

“I went down and videoed the army trucks going into the bottom of the mill. It was just nice to have a bit of a buzz around the village but it was bedlam!”

The film ‘World Breaker’ – details of which were exclusively revealed by Variety magazine last month – is to be directed by Brad Anderson and stars Hollywood hard hitters, Luke Evans and Milla Jovovich.

And Richbrook Furnishings are not the only local business to get in on a slice of the action. Filming has also taken place at Bellinis Newry and Bessbrook Mill.

We eagerly anticipate the film coming to the big screen in the near future!
