Willie’s delight as charity names Guide Dog in honour of canine companion Maisie

"We are incredibly proud of Maisie. Everything we achieve at Guide Dogs is because of people like fundraiser Willie Nugent and we thank him so much for his support."

What an a-Maisie-ing moment for Armagh fundraiser Willie Nugent!

Every year the legendary charity champion writes a Christmas book for children based around the adventures of his own canine companion Maisie.

And one of those three annual beneficiaries of his festive fiction is the Guide Dogs for the Blind.

To thank Willie for all that he has done, the charity afforded him a very great honour.

To show their appreciation, Guide Dogs for the Blind named one of their new pups after Maisie over a year ago.

Today that pup has grown into a beautiful dog!

Daniel Myatt, Fulfilment Team Manager, said: “We are delighted to announce that Maisie has been selected to be one of our very special Guide Dogs.

“We are incredibly proud of Maisie. Everything we achieve at Guide Dogs is because of people like fundraiser Willie Nugent and we thank him so much for his support.”

Needless to say, Willie is chuffed to bits and just wanted to pass on the good news and his own personal thanks to everyone who supports him each year with his Christmas book.

It’s great to know that the money raised really does make a difference where and when it’s needed most.
