Armagh’s St Patrick’s Day community parade gets ready to celebrate Ireland’s patron saint

In a little over a month thousands will take to the streets of Armagh City – the home of St Patrick – to celebrate Ireland’s patron saint!

And the city is open to one and all this Sunday, March 17 for what will be a wonderful procession through the streets of the ecclesiastical city.

The popular St. Patrick’s Day community parade returns once more to take up the mantle for being of the largest and most well-attended parades in the country.

Participants adorn the roads on all manner of decorated floats, cars and lorries; others make their way on foot dancing and performing along the way.

Organisers request that all participants assemble at Christian Brothers School car park at 1.15pm for a 2pm start – a slightly earlier start than usual this year!

The parade will then work its way along its normal route of Irish Street before turning right at Ogle Street and through the city centre.

It will finish up at Sherry’s Field Recreation Centre under the watchful gaze of both St Patrick’s cathedrals.

The event is an all hands on deck affair, which is organised by the St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations Committee, and the committee are welcoming any individual or group interested in helping out to contact them via email on stpatrickmarch387@gmail.com.
