Woman knocked to ground and handbag stolen

Police in Newry are appealing for  information following a street robbery in the Dublin Road area of Newry last night (Saturday), February 8.
At approximately 9.15pm as a 51-year-0ld woman was walking along the road she was assaulted and knocked to the ground by an unknown  male and her handbag stolen.
Police would ask anyone who may have  witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Newry on  0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving  their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak  to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, police in Banbridge are also appealing for  information following an assault in the Bridge Street area on Saturday.
At approximately 3.15pm as a woman was walking along Bridge Street she was approached by an unknown male who asked her for money. When she  refused the man grabbed her arm and attempted to grab her handbag.
He  made off empty handed.
The male is described as being in his late 20s/early 30s, approximately 5’4″ tall, with long curly hair and wearing dark clothing and a dark monkey hat. He was carrying a plastic bag.
The woman was not injured during this incident however she was left very badly shaken.
