Two sickening county Armagh thefts as victims visit graves

A car was stolen as its occupants visited a graveyard in county Armagh

Police are appealing for information after a Mitsubishi Lancer, parked at Tullysaran Graveyard, was stolen just before Christmas.

Constable John Weatherall explained: “Around 4pm on Tuesday, 23 December, a black Mitsubishi Lancer, parked at Tullysaran Graveyard, was entered and two handbags were stolen. The occupants of the vehicle were visiting family graves.

“The handbags contain a number of sentimental items and the owners are keen to have them returned. We would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident. We can be contacted in Armagh on 101, quoting ref: 879231214.”

Just days prior, on Sunday, 21 December, between 5.20pm and 5.40pm, a car was parked at Lylo Cemetery on Bluestone Road, Portadown while its occupant also visited graves.

A white car pulled up beside the vehicle, smashed the window and took a handbag from the footwell before driving off. The handbag contained a sum of cash.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed either of these incidents or has information which could assist them.
