Fundraiser for family of tragic Tandragee man Matthew Biggerstaff who will be laid to rest on Saturday

Matthew Biggerstaff

A 21-year-old man who sadly died as a result of a work place accident in Tandragee will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Matthew Biggerstaff had been working at the Taranto factory on the Old Scarva Road, just outside his hometown on Tuesday morning, when tragedy struck.

Matthew’s death sent shockwaves through the small close-knit community, who have rallied behind a family stricken by grief.

Local woman Gillian Rowe, whose daughter was a close friend of Matthew’s, has set up a GoFundMe page for the family in their hour of need.

“I know this is not much but will perhaps ease the pain and suffering in some little way,” she wrote on the funding page, which has received almost £2,000 in donations so far.

Matthew Biggerstaff (Bigger) your memories and laugh will always be cherished and remembered with such love. Bless you and sleep tight xxx,” she added.

Donations will go to the family, with the assistance of local Councillor Paul Berry.

Matthew’s funeral cortège will leave from his mother’s home at Woodview Park, Tandragee on Saturday at 2pm, via Montague Street to Ballymore Parish Church for a funeral service, for family and close friends.

It will be followed by a private committal in the adjoining churchyard.
