Suspended jail sentence for man who claimed £3,875 benefits

A man was convicted at Armagh Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

Gregory Reid (55) of Elm Park Road, Killylea claimed Income Support and Rates Relief totalling £3,875 while failing to declare his partner’s employment. He was given a four month prison sentence suspended for three years and a £500 fine.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
