Series of arrests made in north Armagh

Police in Lurgan recovered a quanity of cannabis during a patrol in the Gilpinstown Road area on Saturday night, 19 July.

Officers stopped a 25 year old male and recovered £30 of suspected cannabis.

The male will be reported to the PPS.

Police in Portadown are making local roads safer for everyone and made three arrests for drink driving on Sunday, 20 July.

During the early hours of Sunday police on patrol in the Ripley Crescent area observed a car driving erratically. The vehicle was stopped and the 30 year old female driver was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol. She was later charged to appear before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on 15 August.

At 10.27am on the same morning officers arrested a 22 year old male for driving with excess alcohol in the Craigwell Avenue area. He was charged to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on 21 July.

A 51 year old female was arrested at 5.29pm on Sunday in the Moy Road area. She was released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police in Portadown have charged a 29 year old male with drug offences.

Officers were on patrol in the Clonavon Avenue area around 1am on Monday, 21 July, when they came across a male lying in bushes. The man was searched and officers recovered a quantity of cannabis resin and suspected cocaine.

The man was arrested and later charged with possession of Class A and B drugs to appear before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on 13 August.

Police in Lurgan have arrested two males following an attempted burglary.

At 11.06pm on Wednesday, 16 July, police received a report of a break-in at business premieses in Silverwood Industrial Estate. Two male youths were seen making off towards Francis Street.

Officers located two males, both aged 15 years old, on Francis Street within a short space of time. Both teenagers were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary. They were later released on bail pending further enquiries.
