A man has been fined £500 for possession of cannabis in what is the first entry on his record.
Court heard the 20-year-old handed police the drugs after being informed that he would be searched.
Court heard that on November 23, police on patrol of Thomas Street, Portadown, spoke to the defendant who was the driver of a Honda Civic.
Officers detected a smell of cannabis coming from the car and told Soares that he was to be searched.
Upon hearing this the defendant handed over a grinder containing herbal cannabis and a bag of cannabis resin.
Defence solicitor Siun Downey stated: “This is a young man with no previous record, he works full time in a car wash and has come to court with his girlfriend.”
Soares was ordered to pay a fine of £500, along with the offender’s levy of £15.
