Portadown man guilty of assault to be sentenced next month

Craigavon Court

A Portadown man who pleaded guilty to assault must wait until next month to learn his fate.

The 44-year-old entered a plea of guilty to a lesser charge, which has been accepted by the prosecution.

Kevin Thomas Cullen, of Ballyoran Park, was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm with intent at Craigavon Crown Court on Monday.

The defendant entered a plea of not guilty to the offence that occurred on July 4 but pleaded guilty to a section 20 assault.

Prosecution indicated to the court that this would be accepted.

His Honour Judge Patrick Lynch stated that a pre-sentence report would be required in the case.

Cullen was ordered to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on May 3 for sentencing.
