Man who wet himself and got into police car after being told not to given week to pay clean up bill

The intoxicted defendant was ejected from the vehicle and as police attempted to leave he kicked the car twice

A Portadown man who urinated himself before getting inside a police car has been given a week to compensate for the cleaning up.

Court heard the 58-year-old also kicked the vehicle twice after he was ejected from it.

John O’Connor, of Parkside, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour, attempted criminal damage, criminal damage and resisting police at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

It was heard that on April 23, the defendant made a call to police from High Street in Portadown.

Officers arrived to find O’Connor intoxicated and it was noted that he had wet himself.

The defendant was told not to enter the police car but ignored that.

He was ejected from the vehicle and as police attempted to leave he kicked the car twice.

O’Connor resisted as police tried to arrest him for the offences.

Prosecution informed the court the cost of cleaning of the vehicle was £71.32

Defence solicitor Joseph McDonald stated that his client did not have the money with him on this occasion.

District Judge Bernie Kelly said: “I will give him one week.”

The case was adjourned until August 28 for sentencing.
