Man and woman cut from cars and rushed to hospital following serious Portadown collision

Two people were cut from their vehicles by firefighters following a serious road collision in Portadown on Monday evening.

Fire crews from Lurgan and Dungannon stations attended the collision – involving a grey Hyundai and a silver Kia – on the Dungannon Road shortly before 6pm.

A NI Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters used cutting gear to rescue two casualties from their vehicles.

“The casualties were then taken into the care of Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The incident was under control by 6.35pm.”

Police have confirmed the man – aged 71 – and a 55-year-old woman, were taken to hospital for their injuries.

Inspector McBain said: “At around 5:50pm, it was reported that a grey Hyundai and a silver Kia were involved in the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The Dungannon Road has since been reopened.”

“Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash-cam footage available, to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1505 26/10/20.”
