Exciting new pitches and parking plans outlined for Co Armagh football club

The proposal come just two years ahead of Hanover's 60th anniversary and weeks after the club confirmed formation of a new senior ladies team

A County Armagh football team is planning a major development at its home ground.

Hanover FC, which is based at Brownstown Park in Portadown, is hoping to put in place a new 3G pitch, along with professional grade and ultra-strong aluminium dugouts.

A smaller MUGA training pitch is also in the pipeline.

The proposals – now lodged with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council – also include the addition of car parking too.

Currently, there is no available parking on site, but the club hopes to create over 40 new spaces going forward.

The main pitch – including floodlights, ball stop netting and fencing, together with parking, will be the first of two planned phases of development, with the MUGA – also to be floodlit – to follow.

Hanover FC plans

According to a drainage assessment: “The proposed 3G pitch and small MUGA pitch will be constructed on presently grassed areas, while the proposed car park will be constructed on a partially developed hardstanding area immediately west of the existing grass pitch.”

The proposals, which are due to be advertised shortly, come just two years ahead of Hanover’s 60th anniversary.

It is exciting times for the club, which plays its football in the Intermediate A division of the Mid-Ulster League.

Hanover is looking to the future with these latest proposals, which comes just weeks after the club confirmed the formation of a senior ladies team.

The application will now be considered with a decision to follow in due course.
