Diner at Co Armagh Indian restaurant tips £1,000 for £79 meal

Waiting staff at a Portadown Indian restaurant were tipped a staggering £1,000 for a meal that cost just £79.05.

The Indian Tree in the county Armagh town posted news of the generous amount on their Facebook page.

They said: “Just a little note to say a big massive heartfelt thanks to u all for ur tremendous support!!

“We may not be the most exclusive, the most glamorous, the highest grossing establishment, have a large number on our facebook page likes but we sure do have the most genuine wonderful customers that loves everything about our food & restaurant.

“A very dear & loyal customer of ours has made an incredibly beautiful gesture yesterday to show his appreciation for Babu’s food & our service.

“He gave us all the most wonderful encouragement & motivation to keep positively moving forward against all odds.

“A great, beautiful & humbling start to the year indeed.”

The owners were requested to keep the tipper’s name anonymous, which they have.

They added: “the customer is far too decent and has requested us not to reveal his identity to the public, he wishes to keep his appreciation between us & him only. He has truly simply been a huge blessing in disguise.

“This gentleman’s table bill was £79.05 but tipped us £1,000!!!!”
