Tributes flood in for popular teenager found dead at home

The 16-year-old was found unconscious in his home on Tuesday afternoon

A community has been left stunned by the sudden death of a 16-year-old boy in county Armagh on Tuesday afternoon.

Named locally, Shane Richardson was found unconscious in his family home at Brownstown Road in Portadown.

Paramedics arrived at the scene around 1pm and rushed him to Craigavon Area Hospital where he died a short time later.

Tributes have flooded in for a young man described as a “genuinely lovely fella”.

One friend said: “All the memories of growing up together, watching you grow into a young man, giving you advice and chatting to you…I’m going to miss you and your big bake your stupid banter.

“God only takes the best and he chosen you. Sleep tight wee man.”

One friend added: “In absolute and complete shock at the news…such a genuine lovely fella.

“Was a pleasure knowing you we man, rest easy.”

Another said: “God only takes the best.”

“Rest in peace my friend it’s so hard to believe that you’re gone mate, until we meet again,” posted a friend.

“You are going to be greatly missed, you were such a class lad…party hard up there with we chucky, gonna miss you so much man.”

Upper Bann DUP MLA Jonathan Buckley has expressed his shock at the news.

He said: “I am shocked and saddened to learn of the death of a young man from the Clounagh area of Portadown today. The cause of death is currently being investigated.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the young man’s family and friends at this time of great sadness.”
