Tributes paid to a ‘good friend’ following tragic death

The 29-year-old passed away suddenly on Thursday

Tributes have been paid to a 29-year-old county Armagh man who died suddenly yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

He was named locally as Alan McCreery, a former Craigavon Senior High School pupil.

He died in what is being described as tragic circumstances in the Hartfield Avenue area of Portadown.

Police said last night that they were not treating his death as suspicious.

Upper Bann UUP MLA Doug Beattie described Mr McCreery’s death as “a tragedy”.

He said: “My condolences go to Mr McCreery’s family and friends.

“He and his family should be allowed some dignity at this dreadful time for them.”

UUP councillor Julie Flaherty added: “This is another young person from the town who has lost their life and a family that has been left grieving.

“My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the man’s family.” Friends took to social media to share their grief at the news of Mr McCreery’s death.

One friend wrote: “R.I.P bro have no words to describe how deeply sad I am you were a good man a good friend a good bro I’ll see you soon brother may your soul be in peace.”

Another posted: “Yet another sad day for corcrain redmanville another life took. God bless Alan Mccreery and god bless your family.”
