Police urge continued vigilance after weekend bomb discovery

Victoria Street, Lurgan

Police are currently carrying out follow up searches in Lurgan following the security operation in the town at the weekend.

One device detonated and police believe that a second was being used to lure officers in a bid to murder them.

Superintendent Davy Moore said: “These searches are being carried out to ensure the safety of the public and I would like to thank the local community in Lurgan for their continuing support of police as they go about their work keeping people safe.

“We will do our best to keep any disruption to a minimum. I would continue to ask the public to be vigilant in the town. If you notice anything of a suspicious nature please contact us immediately on 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
