Three vehicles were seized during a cross-border policing operation.

Officers in six districts – including Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon and Newry, Mourne and Down -worked alongside An Gardaí Siochana.

Described as a “proactive operation”, the aim was to target criminal activity, particularly burglary, and ensure road safety.

Over 31 vehicle checkpoints were set up and, in addition to three vehicles being seized, three arrests were also made.

Inspector Kelly Gibson said: “We have been running targeted operations on an ongoing basis, and this particular operation was primarily aimed at disrupting and preventing criminal activity, particularly burglary, and ensuring road safety.

“Our overall aim is to keep people safe and bring more offenders before the courts. On a daily basis, police officers respond to calls for help from people who have been affected by criminal activity so we are very much aware of the effect these incidents can cause.

“We are committed to bringing those responsible before the courts.”
