Four weekend Covid deaths as cases and hospital numbers continue to rise across Northern Ireland

The Southern Health Trust is continuing their mobile vaccination centre tour this week.

There has been continued rise in positive Covid cases across Northern Ireland with one further death reported in the last 24 hours – the fourth since Friday.

According to the official dashboard there were a further 1,776 – up 396 on Friday – positive cases reported in the last 24 hours with 120 in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon. There were 178 in Newry, Mourne and Down while Mid-Ulster District recorded 69. Belfast had 573 cases in the last 24 hours.

A total of 4,721 individuals were tested in that time.

There are 109 – an increase of 17 since Friday – people in hospitals across Northern Ireland as a result of the virus, seven – up five over the weekend – of whom are in an intensive care unit.

There are 11 Covid patients in the Southern Trust area, 10 of whom are in Craigavon Area Hospital.

There are currently 11 ICU beds available in Northern Ireland.

The overall total number of deaths recorded by the Department is 2,163.

The Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area accounts for 287 deaths overall. Newry, Mourne and Down District accounts for 169 deaths while Mid-Ulster has registered 206 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Southern Health Trust is continuing their mobile vaccination centre tour.

Next up is the Market Place Theatre in Armagh on Wednesday (July 21), between 2-7pm before visiting Markethill Livestock and Silverbridge GAA Club between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Saturday.
