Two-year-old girl maimed after firework thrown into garden

Police are asking for help to find the person who threw the firework which doctors say will leave the child with a permanent scar

A two-year-old girl has been maimed after being struck by a firework.

And police are on the hunt for the culprit who threw it.

The incident happened at around 8.15pm on Saturday night.

The firework was thrown into the garden of a house in the Rockfield Heights area of Newry.

A PSNI spokesperson said it “struck an innocent two year old girl in the face, causing what doctors say will be a permanent scar”.

The spokesperson added: “If you were in the area and saw anything that could potentially help us, please call 101, quoting reference 2463 31/10/20.”
