Northern Ireland animal welfare charity, the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA), has announced the return of its popular charity cycle event, ‘Pedal for Paws’, set to take place on Saturday, September 24.
Now in its third year, the cycling challenge has become a calendar highlight for the charity’s supporters who tackle the 20-mile route in a bid to raise vital funds for animals in need in Northern Ireland.
Animal lovers across the region can now register their participation in the challenge which will see them cycle the tough 20-mile route from Newry to Scarva and back, following the canal towpath.
The event is also flexible and allows participants who can’t make it to Newry, to grab their family and friends and ‘Pedal for Paws’ on their own local cycling route.
Commenting on the event, Colleen Tinnelly, USPCA Development Manager, said: “Pedal for Paws is definitely a firm favourite in our series of fundraising events here at the USPCA – it offers a great opportunity for our supporters to get out and about, enjoying the beautiful scenery right on the doorstep of the USPCA, while also supporting a cause close to their heart.
“It is quite a challenge for members of the public to take on but can be incredibly rewarding as you not only complete a physically gruelling challenge, but also help support a really worthwhile cause. Since its launch in October 2020, we’ve been overwhelmed with the support from participants, and it’s been a real joy to see returning faces as each year passes!
“Upon completing of the challenge, all of our participants will be invited back to our centre in Newry for a few tasty treats with tea and coffee as a thank you for all their hard work. We look forward to seeing everyone on the day,” added Colleen.
If this sounds like the challenge for you, make sure to register today! The USCPA team will provide you with lots of helpful fundraising advice and tips. The event’s registration fee is £10 with a suggested sponsorship of £50. For more information and to register please visit www.uspca.co.uk/events.
