Newry residents have cars damaged in ‘serious anti-social criminal incident’

A number of Newry residents woke up on Sunday morning to find their cars have been damaged by vandals.

The cars were targeted in the Church Street and Mount Pleasant area of the city.

City councillor Valerie Harte, commenting after an incident, said that the entire affair has left the local community very angry.

“Residents who had their vehicles damaged in this serious anti-social criminal incident have been in touch with the PSNI,” said councillor Harte.

“I would also encourage anyone living on the area who witnessed anything also to contact the PSNI.

The Sinn Féin elected representative continued: “The incident has caused much anger and frustration.

“People now will face costs of fixing their damaged vehicles and properties.

This is totally unacceptable behaviour and those engaged in these anti-community acts should be ashamed of themselves.”
