A new pizza takeaway could be opening on the busy Warrenpoint Road on the outskirts of Newry.

An application for the new enterprise has been submitted to Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for consideration.

It would, if given the go-ahead, be located at the Greenbank Service Station.

The intended premises is Unit 2, which had previously been used as a hairdressers and is now described in the submission as a vacant shop.

A change if use application has been made to facilitate the new takeaway going ahead.

It has been submitted in the name of Seamus Murphy and the indication is that it would see in the region of six new jobs on site on a daily basis.

The plans are due to be publicly advertised shortly.
