SHEEP trade was steady at Markethill yesterday (Wednesday) April 24, for a smaller entry.
Heavy hoggets sold to £102.50 each with several pens selling from £98 to £101 each. Top rate of 398p per kilo was paid for 24.5 kilos @ £97.50 each, followed by 394p per kilo for 24.5 kilos @ £96.50 each. All suitable pens sold from 360p to 386p per kilo.
Middleweights sold to 420p per kilo for 21 kilos @ £88.20 each, followed by 412p per kilo for 23.5 kilos @ £96.80 each. Main demand sold from 365p to 391p per kilo.
Spring lambs sold to £107 each with several pens from £97 to £103 each and up to 469p per kilo for 22 kilos @ £103.20 each.
Good quality cull ewes sold from £65 to £80 each with 2nds from £40 to £55 each.
A full house in the Breeding ring sold in a slower trade. Doubles sold from £130 to £170 each and singles sold from £100 to £132 each.
