Hundreds of tyres have been dumped in Clady overnight.
The disused tyres were left in the middle of the road at Dead Man’s Hill, on the edge of the Fews Forest.
A mattress was also discarded near-by.
Newly-elected Sinn Fein councillor for the area Brona Haughey hit out at those responsible calling it a “disgusting act of environmental crime which shows no regard for our community”.
She said it has been reported to the Council’s Environmental Health department.
“Customers are being charged to dispose of these tyres properly for but are paying again through rates to have this illegal dumping removed,” councillor Haughey added.
“Anyone with information should bring it to the local authorities.”
