Man requires 23 staples after thieves batter him with metal bar

A man needed 23 staples to a head wound after being battered with a metal bar as he tried to stop three thugs stealing a motorbike.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or information to the serious assault, which happened in the Dingwell Park area of Lurgan.

The man disturbed three males in the process of stealing a motorbike and, when he confronted them, he was struck on the head with a metal bar, resulting in a serious head wound.

They then took the motorbike but abandoned it near Glenholme Avenue after being pursued by the owner.

If anyone saw or heard anything between 1.40am and 2.40am last Sunday, January 11, they are asked to contact Lurgan Police on the non-emergency number, 101.
