Co Armagh man found guilty of attempted murder of police officer

A Co Armagh man has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a police officer in 2015.

Thirty-eight-year-old Sean McVeigh of Victoria Street in Lurgan stood accused of attempting the murder the PSNI officer at his home using a booby-trap car bomb.

He had denied the charges of attempted Murder and possession of an explosive with intent to endanger life.

Sentencing was passed down at Belfast Crown Court earlier today (Friday), with the judge in the non-jury trial finding McVeigh guilty of the crimes.

The defendant attempted to murder a police officer at his Glenrandel home in Eglinton, on June 18, 2015.

McVeigh was remanded into custody where he will wait before sentencing is passed at a later date.
