Teenager appears in court after stolen tractor is recovered in Derrynoose

A 19-year-old man accused of stealing a tractor and driving it across the border has appeared in court.

Jake Mulhall, with an address in Mullaghmatt in Monaghan town, appeared from a police custody suite, via video link, at Newry Magistrates’ Court earlier today (Wednesday).

He stood accused of driving when unfit, dangerous driving, no driving licence, no insurance and failing to provide a specimen of blood.

The tractor was allegedly stolen in Monaghan during the early hours of Tuesday morning before crossing the border at Derrynoose where three males – including the defendant were apprehended.

A PSNI constable connected Mulhall to the charges before District Judge Eamonn King released the teenager on £300 bail to appear again before Armagh Magistrates’ on January 11.

Two males aged 18 and 16, have been released on police bail, pending further enquiries into the incident.
