Jeep set on fire in deliberate Newtownhamilton arson attack

Dungormley estate, Newtown

A jeep was set alight in a small county Armagh estate in the early hours of yesterday morning (Friday).

The police are treating the incident, which occurred in the Dungormley Estate area of Newtownhamilton, as arson.

Just after 12.30am, police received a report of a jeep being set alight.

A man was seen throwing something at the vehicle and then leaving the area in a silver car.

The jeep was burnt out as a result of this incident.

Sergeant Frances McCullough said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact Newtownhamilton Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111. I would also appeal to the man seen leaving the scene in the silver car to contact Police as he may be able to help Police with their enquiries.”
