A local MLA is to meet with police this week after a brutal early morning assault on a teenager in Dungannon at the weekend.
Footage of the incident was widely shared on social media.
It happened during the early hours of Monday morning in the Irish Street area of the town.
A teenager was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and two men – aged 29 and 32 – were subsequently arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Following the incident, Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew confirmed his intentions to meet with the PSNI.
The Fermanagh & South Tyrone MLA said: “A man was hospitalised after being brutally assaulted in Dungannon in the early hours of Monday morning.
“I would urge anyone with information on this attack to bring it forward to the police.
“There has been a concerning upsurge in incidents like this in this area over recent times, and it’s vital that people can feel safe when they go out.
“I will be meeting with the PSNI this week on these incidents and on what approach can be taken to make the community safer.”
