Disgruntled rail passengers invited to air concerns with station manager

A ‘Meet the Manager’ day has been arranged for disgruntled rail passengers as complaints continue over the service – especially at Newry station.

Commuters have been invited to take their concerns about the city’s rail service directly to the station manager.

Conor Murphy MLA revealed that a ‘Meet the Manager’ day has been agreed following his recent meeting with Translink’s Chief Executive Chris Conway to discuss a number of issues surrounding train services to the city.

“We had a productive meeting in which I pressed him about a number of issues, primarily around the reduction in services to the Newry station,” he said.

“He was able to give me a number of assurances, in particular around connecting trains which he says will be held up to ensure passengers coming from Newry have the opportunity to board them.

“We also spoke about the availability and affordability of the Enterprise services as well as overcrowding when special events are on.

“However, local commuters have a wide range of concerns about the service so it was agreed that a “Meet the Manager” day would be held in the station.

“On Friday, February 19 at 10.30am the Station Manager will hold an open meeting in the station where people can bring their questions and concerns directly to him.

“I would urge anyone with concerns about the service to attend this meeting and help build the rail service that our city deserves.”
