Crossmaglen man appears in court over attempted ATM theft

A Crossmaglen man has appeared in court in Cavan charged in related to an attempted theft in the county last summer.

Daniel O’Callaghan, of Monog Road, appeared before Virginia District Court on Friday morning.

The 30-year-old was arrested by Gardai in Castleblayney on January 6.

As a result a number of searches were carried out on Tuesday in the Crossmaglen area, by the PSNI as part of a Joint Agency Task Force co-ordination.

O’Callaghan stood in the dock charged with the attempted theft of the ATM bank machine on Main Street, Virginia on August 14, 2019 and being in possession of a stolen CASE digger on Main Street Virginia on the same date.

He was also charged with entering the Lake House, Virginia as a trespasser on an unknown date between August 14 and 17 last year, with the intent to commit an offence or interfere with the building.

He was remanded into custody before he is due back in court next week.
