Woman and three children rescued from their Craigavon home after garage fire

A woman and three young children were rescued from their Craigavon home following a fire at an adjoining garage.

Detectives investigating the blaze in Westacres last night (Monday) are appealing for information.

Police received a report at approximately 11.40pm that the NIFRS was in attendance at a garage fire in Westacres and that four occupants in an adjoining property, including a woman and three children, were taken to safety as the NIFRS tackled the blaze.

Detective Sergeant Dave Stewart said: “The four occupants, including three children under the age of 10 years old, were taken to hospital and treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.

“While our investigation is at an early stage, we are treating this as arson at this time, and we are asking anyone who was in the area and saw what happened to call us on 101, quoting reference number 29 of 13/07/21.”
