Pair accused of assaulting three women and smashing car window with hurley stick for Crown Court

Two people accused of assaulting three women and smashing a car window with a hurley stick are to go on trial at the Crown Court.

Tamara Hanratty, 24, and Lee Matthew Hanratty, 28, of Hammond Street in Moneymore, are charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon with intent and two counts of common assault.

Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday heard that the pair were alleged to have assaulted three females and to have used a hurley stick to smash the windows of an Audi A5 belonging to one of the alleged injured parties on February 17.

As they stood in the dock the defendants submitted to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution stated that based on the papers before the court it had been found that there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence counsel made no contrary submissions.

The case was adjourned with the the two accused to appear before Craigavon Crown Court on October 15 for arraignment.
