The Craigavon Lake Run is back, with dozens of people expected to sign up for the popular event.
The run will take place on Wednesday, June 1 from 6.45pm and participants can take part in the 1k family fun run, 5k, 10k or 10k wheelchair races.
Among the runners will be Gillian McCrory, a 43-year-old, working mum of three, who took up running just over nine years ago when she completed a leg of the Belfast marathon for a work team.
Shortly afterwards, she became a firm fixture at the City Park Park Run. Her 5k personal best stands at 18.36 and she has also excelled at longer distances, including at the Belfast City Marathon where she came second in the ladies’ race.
The start line will be located at the back gate of Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre leading onto Craigavon lakes path with the finish line in front of the Craigavon Lakes slip way – leading towards South Lake Leisure Centre car park.
The races will be staggered with the family fun run starting at 6.45pm (£3.50 per person), followed by the wheelchair race at 6.58pm (£15 per person), the 5k at 7pm (£10 per person) and the 10k run at 7.10pm (£15 per person).
Participants can collect their race packs at Rushmere Shopping Centre from 9am on Friday, May 27 until 7pm on Tuesday, May 31. The packs will include a race number, chip, bib and pin.
Participants may also collect them from reception at South Lake Leisure Centre on Wednesday, June 1 from 9am until 6pm.
The event is being sponsored by Rushmere Shopping Centre and McKeever Sports, in partnership with St Peter’s Athletic Club.
