Court told man who stole £50 speaker from Tesco has ‘significant and relevant record’

He will be sentenced in the New Year

A Portadown man who stole a £50 speaker from Tesco must wait until the New Year to learn his fate.

Court heard the 21-year-old was in breach of a suspended sentence for a similar offence.

Patrick Pearse Killen, of Thomas Street, pleaded guilty to theft at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court.

As the charge was read, it was heard that the defendant stole a speaker valued at around £50 from Tesco in Lurgan.

Defence barrister Ciara Ennis commented that this had been in breach of a suspended sentence for an offence of a similar nature.

District Judge Steven Keown stated: “A presentence report is clearly required. It may have some positives as he has a very significant and relevant record.”

The case was adjourned until January 24 for sentencing.
