Arrest warrant issued for Portadown man after cannabis was found in his home

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Portadown man who was found in possession of cannabis.

Court heard the 41-year-old made admissions to police when the substance was located in his home during a search.

Nuno Miguel Afonso, of Garvaghy Park, was convicted in his absence of possession of a Class B drug at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

It was heard that on February 6, during a search of the defendant’s home, approximately three grams of cannabis resin were located in the master bedroom.

Prosecution informed the court that the value of the drugs was around £15.

In a notebook interview with police, Afonso made full admissions to possession of the substance.

Observing the defendant’s non-appearance, District Judge Bernie Kelly stated that a conviction would be recorded and an arrest warrant issued for Afonso.
