County Armagh businesses targeted in spate of burglaries

Police in Portadown are appealing for information following two burglaries in the town.

Sergeant Barbara McNally explained: “Sometime overnight between Monday, 10 November and Tuesday, 11 November, entry was forced to two businesses in Church Street. Windows in these premises were broken and cash from charity boxes taken.

“We would like to hear from anyone who noticed any activity around this area during the night or has information in relation to these burglaries. Police can be contacted in Portadown on the 101 number, quoting ref: 96111114.”

If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Elsewhere, police have also recovered a stolen vehicle.

Sergeant Alwyn Peters said: “We received a report of a silver Freelander landrover taken from outside a house in Lakelands between Friday night, 7 November and Saturday morning, 8 November. The thief or thieves had opened the front door and taken car keys from inside the house.

“Prior to this report officers on patrol located the stolen vehicle on the M1 eastbound, close to junction 6.

“I would remind everyone to ensure their homes are locked and secured, even when they are home, and to store your car keys in a safe location.”
