Church to hold prayerful vigil for Sam after serious road traffic collision

A church congregation will come together on Wednesday evening to pray for a young County Armagh man who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision.

Nineteen-year-old Sam McElnea remains in hospital after sustaining what have been described as “severe injuries” as a result of a collision on Monday night.

On Wednesday, members of Lislooney Presbyterian Church at Tynan are being asked to come along to a special night of prayer.

The church wants to pray for Sam – a former pupil of the City of Armagh High School – and his family, and to show their support to them at this very worrying time.

A spokesperson for the congregation at Lislooney told Armagh I : “Sam has family who attend our Church and Sam himself is known to many within the wider community.

“He was involved in an accident on Monday night and sustained severe injuries and we felt that it would be right to hold a prayer meeting. We hope and pray for a full recovery. He is a great friend to all.

“Everyone is welcome and can come and go whenever they want.”

Those wishing to attend can come along any time from 8pm onwards, and the prayerful vigil is expected to last until midnight. It will take place in the church hall.

People who are not able to attend or not members of the church are also being asked to remember Sam in their prayers at this time.
