Special fire crew deployed to rescue cow trapped in Bessbrook bog

A special rescue team was deployed to free a cow trapped in a bog in Bessbrook on Wednesday afternoon.

Crews from Ballynahinch, Newcastle – as well as a special NIFRS crew – were tasked to the scene on Eshway Road shortly after 1pm.

A NIFRS spokesperson told Armagh I: “Firefighters worked alongside animal rescue crews to free a cow from a bog using a GP Line this afternoon. The incident was dealt with by 1.45pm.”

The animal was unharmed in the incident.
