Residents’ concerned as police called in to disperse Armagh house party

Railway Street Armagh

Residents were forced to call police after concerns over a house party in Armagh city on Saturday evening.

Police had to intervene and disperse a large gathering of people from a property on Railway Street shortly before 6pm.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said there were at least 30 people in the property with some spilling out in a neighbours’ back garden.

“It was surreal to witness, I couldn’t actually believe my eyes,” she told Armagh I.

“There was at least 30 people inside that house with absolutely no regard for this current lockdown, or their neighbours for that matter. Partying in the middle of the day while next door elderly residents are trying their best to avoid contact with other people altogether.

“Not only are they putting themselves in danger but others around them too. It’s simply a disgrace!”

A police spokesperson, speaking to Armagh I, said: “Police in Armagh received a report of a number of persons at a property in the Railway Street area of city on Saturday evening, May 2.

“Officers attended the property and gave appropriate advice in respect of the regulations in place. No offences were detected on this occasion.”
