A Co Tyrone man who exposed himself in a hospital waiting room will return to court to be sentenced next month.

Armagh Magistrates’ Court heard the 47-year-old, who is already on the Sexual Offenders register, had an “horrendous record with a number of entries of offences of this nature”.

Thomas McDonagh, of Sydney Lane in Aughnacloy, pleaded guilty to exposure when he appeared on Tuesday via videolink from Maghaberry.

Defence barrister Conor Coulter stated: “This is not your run of the mill exposure charge. There are some aggravating features.”

Court heard that McDonagh was currently on the Sexual Offenders register for a “litany of charges”.

Mr Coulter said: “This man has an horrendous record with a number of entries of offences of this nature.”

District Judge Brian Archer asked for the ages of the injured parties in the case.

Prosecution explained: “The offence took place in a hospital waiting room and it was captured on CCTV.

“It is not known the ages of anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”

Mr Coulter stated: “The only statements taken were made by staff at the hospital, all of who were over 18.”

Court heard that the defendant had been in custody since February.

A pre-sentence report was ordered in the case and McDonagh will appear again via videolink for sentencing on May 14.
