ABC Council overturns decision and grants GAA club approval for major extension

The application had been rejected based on the absence of a parking analysis requested but this has now been provided and the development subsequently given the go-ahead

A Co Armagh GAA club has had its plans for a major clubhouse extension approved – just a month after being turned down.

The decision to refuse permission to Grange GFC came in July.

But now Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council has overturned that decision and the club will now be allowed to proceed.

Grange GFC is planning a major development at its ground which could see club facilities double in size.

The application involves the provision of a new sports hall, as well as the construction of two new changing rooms and showers.

The proposals include storage facilities, as well as a new entrance foyer.

Floorspace will see an increase from around 5,650 sq ft to 11,320 sq ft.

The application had been turned down based “solely on lack of information” provided. This referred to parking analysis requested.

That has now been carried out and the proposals have now been given the go-ahead and the club will be notified.
